Primary Sources: EJ-EPA Search

To use our EJ Search tool, just type in a keyword or two, select a collection in which to search (with menu popping up when you click the prompt to the right of the text box), and press return. The search engine will then collect and display documents with “hits” within any collections you’ve selected. You can consult these documents via the search tool reader, also download them as searchable pdfs.

Current searchable collections:

• Minutes of the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1994-2023. A council set up to advise the agency on environmental justice issues, with membership consisting of leaders of environmental justice groups and allied academics.
• Annual Congressional Budget Justifications for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These contain detailed annual reports on the status of programs, staff, and budgeting across the agency, including those pertaining to environmental and climate justice.
• National Environmental Justice Advisory Council Reports and Recommendations, 1996-2013. Part one of the formal reports and recommendations presented by this council, many of them including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s formal response. The council was set up to advise the agency on environmental justice issues, with membership consisting of leaders of environmental justice groups and allied academics.
• National Environmental Justice Advisory Council Reports and Recommendations, 2014-. Part two of the formal reports and recommendations presented by this council, many of them including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s formal response.
